SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shandong Qiwangda Group plans to restart its 80,000 tonne/year methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) unit at Zibo city in Shandong province in the middle of March, a company source said on Wednesday.

The unit was shut on 12 February for routine maintenance, added the source.

“We have a small amount of inventory, and will supply to contract buyers during the shutdown,” said the source.

The company mainly supplies its MTBE output to Shandong local markets, market sources said.

Shandong Qiwangda also runs a 600,000 tonne/year residual fluid catalytic cracker (RFCC) and a 120,000 tonne/year aromatics unit at the same site.
