SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec Beijing Yanshan Co plans to shut its 120,000 tonne/year phenol/acetone plant at Fangshan in Beijing down earlier than expected for scheduled maintenance, a company source said on Thursday.

The phenol/acetone plant will be taken off line from 25 March to 15 April, which is ahead of the original plan in May, the source said, without disclosing the reason.

Sinopec Beijing Yanshan has a 160,000 tonne/year phenol/acetone unit in Beijing, which is currently running at full capacity, the source said.

Meanwhile, in the downstream sector, Sinopec Mitsubishi Chemical Polycarbonate has postponed the turnaround for its 150,000 tonne/year bisphenol A (BPA) plant to mid-March, the source said.

Maintenance for the BPA plant will last for around one month, the source added.
