SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Mitsui Chemicals has started exporting products from its newly started up 60,000 tonne/year acetone-based isopropanol (IPA) plant in Takaishi, a source close to the company said on Friday.

The plant commenced operations in the previous week.

The company plans to gradually ramp up production at the plant, the source said, without revealing the unit’s current run rates.

Mitsui Chemicals has shut permanently its older 28,000 tonne/year propylene-based IPA plant at Osaka Works at the end of January, ahead of the start-up of the new plant.
