SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Tosoh Corp will be shutting its 184,000 dry metric tonne (dmt)/year Yokkaichi-based caustic soda unit for a scheduled turnaround from 6 March, a company source said on Friday.
The turnaround is expected to last until 21 April, said the source.
Tosoh Corp is currently running its caustic soda units, another of which is a 1.125m dmt/year unit located in Nanyo, Yamaguchi prefecture, at around 80%, according to the source.
The turnaround is expected to weigh on the supply of spot cargoes from the company due to the duration of the turnaround, but is not expected to have significant impact on the prices of caustic soda in the region, as demand is still stable-to-weak, market participants said.
