LONDON (ICIS)--European methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) producer Shell Chemicals has announced a 51-day planned maintenance outage at its 90,000 tonne/year MEK plant in Pernis, the Netherlands, from 10 March to 29 April, a source said on Friday.
The planned outage has already been communicated to customers, and regular and contract customers should receive product according to monthly agreed volumes during the period, the source added.
MEK is used extensively in the construction sector as a coating for woods and other materials.
The European MEK market is currently over-supplied, and the outage should not have too big an impact on product availability.
