TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s production of caustic soda increased by 3.6% year on year to 312,965 tonnes in January, official data from the Japan Soda Industry Association (JSIA) showed on Monday.
Domestic shipments of caustic soda were up by 1.4% to 256,912 tonnes in January from the same time a year earlier, while exports rose steeply to 93,557 tonnes, a fourfold increase, according to the association.
Meanwhile, the country’s production of soda ash fell by 17% year on year to 26,498 tonnes in January, while domestic shipments decreased by 6% to 26,195 tonnes, the same data showed.
Exports of soda ash more than tripled to 77 tonnes, according to JSIA.
