HOUSTON (ICIS)--Firefighters have put under control a blaze at AkzoNobel's polymer chemicals plant in La Porte near Houston, the company said on Monday.
The fire started at about 1300 hours Houston time (1900 hours GMT) at the company's Battleground facility in La Porte, the company said in a statement. One employee was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The fire was put under control as of 1600 hours, but firefighters continue to saturate the affected area with water, the company said.
AkzoNobel did not comment on whether operations were disrupted at the plant.
