LONDON (ICIS)--German refiner PCK Schwedt said that a fire on Monday at its refinery in Schwedt, northeast of Berlin, was quickly extinguished.

The fire at the 12m tonne/year refinery broke out at around 09:00 Germany local time at a vacuum distillation unit, PCK said in a statement that confirmed reports in Germany’s press on Tuesday.

PCK said that there were no injuries and that there had been no danger to neighbouring residents.

The company did not comment if or to what extent the incident may have affected production, or on the fire's cause. However, it said that under previous plans the affected distillation unit was due to replaced next month. A PCK media official could not be reached for additional comment.

In addition to fuels, the refinery produces propylene and other petrochemical products, according to information on its website. PCK’s shareholders are Shell, BP, Rosneft, ENI and Total.
