SINGAPORE (ICIS)--AkzoNobel's new €90m ($117m) Jupia chemical island in Brazil is now operational and has begun supplying Eldorado Brasil Celulose’s pulp mill, the Dutch special chemicals firm said on Thursday.

The Jupia facility will supply, store and handle all chemicals for the 1.5m tonne/year mill under an agreement which will run for the next 15 years, AkzoNobel said in a statement.

The facility is operated by the company's pulp and performance chemicals business.

AkzoNobel currently runs chemical islands, as well as other production units, on several customer sites in Brazil.
