HOUSTON (ICIS)--US polycarbonates (PC) exports were 38,632 tonnes in January, up 7% from the 36,141 tonnes shipped in the same month in 2012, according to US International Trade Commission (ITC) data made available on Friday.
January’s figure was also 21% higher than the 31,887 tonnes shipped in December, the ITC said.
China was the top destination for US PC in January, at 11,694 tonnes, down 16% from the same month in 2012. It was followed by Mexico (8,762 tonnes), Korea (4,072 tonnes) and Singapore (3,608 tonnes).
Meanwhile, the US imports of PC in January were 4,764 tonnes, up 53% from the same month in 2012. Top importers of PC were Belgium, Canada and Japan.
Major US manufacturers of PC include Styron, SABIC and Bayer MaterialScience.
