NEW YORK (ICIS)--January exports of US polyethylene terephthalate (PET) declined about 22% year on year, according to trade data made available on Friday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
January PET exports totalled 22,334 tonnes, down by 6,374 tonnes from 28,708 tonnes in January 2012.
Similarly, month-on-month exports also declined, down by roughly 1.5% to 22,334 tonnes from 22,684 tonnes in December 2012.
Meanwhile, January PET imports fell about 21% year on year to 36,449 tonnes from 46,261 tonnes in January 2012, according to ITC.
In comparison, month-on-month PET imports increased by almost 31% to 36,449 tonnes from 27,850 tonnes in December 2012.
US PET producers include DAK Americas, Indorma, Mossi & Ghisolfi (M&G) Group and NanYa.
