HOUSTON (ICIS)--US ammonia imports in January 2013 were up about 23% from the same month a year earlier, according to data made available on Friday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
US ammonia imports rose to 627,821 tonnes in January from 508,976 tonnes in January 2012. Imports rose in January mainly because of increased product from Canada.
January imports increased from 532,013 tonnes in December 2012.
Trinidad & Tobago at 304,175 tonnes was the major source of US ammonia imports, followed by Canada at 117,881 tonnes, Russia at 98,070 tonnes and Ukraine at 63,971 tonnes.
Other sources included Venezuela, Estonia and the Cayman Islands.
