HOUSTON (ICIS)--US-based United Biofuels has purchased a partially completed 50m gal/year (189m litres/year) biodiesel facility in Brooklyn, New York, that is expected to become operational within 12 months, the company announced on Friday.

The acquisition is part of a purchase by United Biofuels’ parent company, United Refining, of certain assets of Metro Fuel Oil and its affiliates, the company said in a press release.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

When completed, the facility will be one of the largest biodiesel plants on the east coast, the company said.

United Refining also operates a 70,000 bbl/day refinery in Warren, Pennsylvania.
