HOUSTON (ICIS)--January 2013 styrene exports and imports were up from the same time last year, according to data made available on Friday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
January 2013 styrene exports were at 161,441 tonnes to start the year, up by 31,260 tonnes or about 24% from 130,181 tonnes in January 2012. The top three destinations for US styrene in January were Mexico, the Netherlands and Brazil.
Meanwhile, January 2013 styrene imports were at 61,238 tonnes, up by 4,607 tonnes or about 8% from 56,631 tonnes in January 2012.
Canada was the sole importer of styrene in January.
Major US styrene producers include Americas Styrenics, Styrolution, LyondellBasell, Total and Westlake.
