SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Malaysia’s industry output rose by 4.6% year on year in January, boosted by the manufacturing, mining and electricity sectors, official data showed on Monday.
Output from the manufacturing sector grew by 4.9% year on year in January 2013, while mining output rose by 2.4%, the country’s Department of Statistics said in its monthly report.
Electricity output rose by 9.8% year on year in January, it said.
The report did not provide further details.
Earlier on Monday, the Department of Statistics announced that the country’s overall exports rose by 3.5% year on year in January.
