SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s vehicles sales in February 2013 totalled 1.35m units, a decrease of 13.6% year on year and 33.4% month on month, official industry data showed on Monday.
Its vehicles production in February dropped by 16.3% year on year and 31.4% month on month to 1.35m units, according to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).
February’s sales and production of passenger cars were both at 1.11m units, with sales falling by 8.3% and production down by 12.4% year on year, the data showed.
China’s total vehicles sales in the January-February 2013 period reached 3.39m units, an increase of 14.7% year on year, while total production in the two months rose by 14.1% year on year to 3.31m units.
The contraction in February sales was primarily a result of the week-long Lunar New Year holiday, CAAM said.
