TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s domestic shipments of foamed polystyrene (PS) sheet, or polystyrene paper, in February decreased by 2.9% month on month to 6,750 tonnes, official industry data showed on Tuesday.
On a year-on-year basis, February shipments were down by 11%, according to the Japan Polystyrene Foamed Sheet Industry Association (JASFA).
PSP is used mainly for food packaging.
Foamed PS sheet is made into rolled trays and laminated bowls.
Of the total shipments of the material in February, those in the form of rolled trays were at 3,030 tonnes, down 4.7% month on month and 15% lower year on year, the data showed.
Domestic shipments of laminated bowls, on the other hand, totaled 2,220 tonnes in February, down 1.3% month on month and 10% lower year on year, according to the data.
