SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China Resources plans to start building a new 300,000 tonne/year polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle chip line in Zhuhai as part of its project’s second phase, a company source said on Wednesday.
However, a specific start date for the construction was not given, because it is pending several approval procedures, the company source added.
The company is running its first 300,000 tonnes/year PET bottle chip line at the same site normally, the source said, but did not disclose the exact operating rate.
This PET line was started up in June 2012 and was the project’s first phase, the source added.
The company has PET lines with a total capacity of 1m tonnes/year at Changzhou in Jiangsu province and they are running at 80-90% capacity on average, according to a market source.
China Resources is expected to achieve a combined capacity of 1.6m tonnes/year PET bottle chips following the completion of the second-phase project, the source said.
