SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Rongsheng Petrochemical plans to shut its two polyester plants at Xiaoshan in Zhejiang on 15 March, a company source said on Wednesday.

These two plants, with a total capacity of 400,000 tonnes/year, mainly produce pre-oriented yarn (POY) and  fully drawn yarn (FDY), the source said.

The main reason for the shutdown of the plants is the high inventory, and the restart date of the plants has not yet been decided, the source added.

Five other plants, with a total capacity of 600,000 tonnes/year , are running at full rates at the same site, the source said.
