LONDON (ICIS)--Borealis's extended melamine shutdown at Linz, Austria, will take place from the end of May until the middle of July, a source at the Austrian-headquartered producer said on Thursday.

The company will undergo the shutdown for the previously-announced revamp of its Linz facilities.

“The Linz shutdown will be from the end of May through to mid-July,” the source said.

Borealis has the capacity to produce 50,000 tonnes/year of melamine at Linz and a further 80,000 tonnes/year from its facility in Piesteritz, Germany.

Melamine uses include whiteboards, floor tiles, kitchenware, fire retardant fabrics and commercial filters.
