HOUSTON (ICIS)--US renewable chemicals firm Amyris and Swiss flavours and fragrances (F&F) producer Firmenich have expanded their cooperation to develop and commercialise renewable ingredients for the F&F market, they said on Thursday.
In return, Firmenich provides Amyris with “significant funding over the next six years,” they said without disclosing financial details.
Under their partnership, Amyris and Firmenich will jointly select additional target F&F ingredients that Amyris will develop and manufacture, they said.
Firmenich will market and distribute any ingredients resulting from the collaboration in the F&F market. Both companies will share in the economic value derived from the sale of these ingredients, they said.
“This partnership leverages Firmenich's world class biotechnology platform within the F&F industry, enabled by our leading team of molecular biologists and unique intellectual property, as well as, our deep client intimacy and market understanding,” said Patrick Firmenich, CEO of Firmenich.
