SINGAPORE (ICIS)--PTT Phenol shut its 150,000 tonne/year bisphenol-A (BPA) plant at Map Ta Phut, Thailand, on 14 March because of a power shortage, a company source said on Friday.

The plant will remain off line until 20 March, the source said.

The outage is not expected to have a major impact on spot prices given prevailing weak market conditions, market sources said.

Buying sentiment was subdued in the major China market because of the recent volatility in crude futures and upstream benzene and phenol prices, sources said.

PTT Phenol is jointly owned by Thai energy major PTT and PTT Chemical and Aromatics (Thailand).
