LONDON (ICIS)--Momentive Specialty Chemicals has more than tripled its waterborne epoxy resin production capacity with the development of new production facilities in Barbastro, Spain, the US-based company said on Monday.
The site will allow the company to produce its complete range of standard and modified epoxy resin emulsions and dispersions, and is already producing Momentive’s in-house surfactants. No financial details were disclosed.
According to the company, the capacity expansion is part of a move to expand its customer base for the coatings, civil engineering and fibre and textiles end-uses.
The move also fits with Momentive’s strategy of establishing waterborne paints as the industry standard in protective coatings applications, the company added.
“The latest development is focused on waterborne, two-component, zinc-rich resin systems with equivalent or better performance than the old solvent-borne technologies,” said Ann Frederix, Momentive’s business director of epoxy specialties for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
