LONDON (ICIS)--Jiang Jiemin, director and chairman of China-based oil and gas giant PetroChina, has tendered his resignation with immediate effect, the company said on Monday.

He is reportedly set to step into the top position of China’s Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, the body that administers state-owned assets in the country.

Company vice-chairman Zhou Jiping will assume the role of chairman, preceding the election of a new chairman of the board, the company said.
