TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s production of polystyrene (PS) rose by 11% year on year to 54,076 tonnes in February this year, official industry data showed on Tuesday.
Internal demand for PS increased by 9% year on year in February while exports of the material rose by 12% to 1,375 tonnes, according to the Japan Styrene Industry Association (JSIA).
Meanwhile, Japan’s output of styrene monomer (SM) fell by 11% year on year to 193,348 tonnes in February, the data showed.
Internal demand of PS rose by 3% year on year to 116,399 tonnes in February, it showed.
Demand for general purpose and high impact PS was up by 8% year on year at 49,061 tonnes in February, according to the JSIA.
Exports of PS rose by 8% year on year to 89,642 tonnes in February, the JSIA data showed.
