Japan’s domestic shipments of ABS resins fall 17% in February

Tokyo (ICIS)--Japan's domestic shipments of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) resins fell by 17% year-on-year in February to 18,380 tonnes, official data from the Nihon ABS jushi kogyokai (Japan ABS resin industry association) showed on Thursday.  

Exports of ABS resins decreased by 21% to 9,990 tonnes from the year earlier, according to association data. 

Among the total shipments, 7,341 tonnes were used for automotive purposes, an 18% year on year decline, according to the association. 

Shipments of the resins for housing construction fell by 2% year on year to 1,883 tonnes, the data showed.
