China’s Superb Petroleum Group to start up MTBE unit in 2014

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Superb Petroleum Group is planning to bring on stream a 50,000 tonne/year methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) unit at Mudanjiang in Heilongjiang province in 2014, a company source said on Friday.

The company is alos planning to bring on line a new 200,000 tonne/year aromatisation unit at the same site simultaneously, added the source.

The two units will take liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as feedstock , according to market sources.

The construction work started in April 2012 with an investment of yuan (CNY) 250m ($40m).

Superb Petroleum Group, headquartered in Beijing, is largely engaged in the process, sales, transportation and storage of petrochemicals.
