CHONGQING, China (ICIS)--South Korea’s Kumho P&B Chemicals has reduced the operating rate of its 130,000 tonne/year No 2 and 150,000 tonne/year No 3 bisphenol A (BPA) lines in Yeosu by 10-15 percentage points, a company source said on Friday.
Run rates were capped at 90-95% capacity prior to the further cutbacks on 20 March because of weak demand and unfavourable margins, the source said.
“We have no plan to restore full operation is prevailing weak market condition continues,” the source added.
The company’s No 1 BPA plant has been shut indefinitely since early 2009.
