SAN ANTONIO (ICIS)--Increasing competition from Asia is hurting sales of phenol derivatives in South America, a producer said Sunday.

Customers in the phenol derivatives chain for phenolic resins, epoxy resins and polycarbonate (PC) are bringing in more Asian imports, the producer said on the sidelines of the International Petrochemical Conference (IPC).

“That means all the phenol buyers are losing market share, which means producers are losing market share,” the producer said.

Increased competition from Asian imports of phenol derivatives is only pushing the price lower, the producer added.

Hosted by the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers, the IPC continues through Tuesday.
