SAN ANTONIO, ?xml:namespace>Texas (ICIS)--Petrochemical companies doing business in Europe “have their hands full” with the current economic malaise there, the CEO of US-based petrochemical manufacturer Huntsman said on Monday.
“I don’t know how a commodity chemical company in Europe can compete,” said Peter Huntsman, who was speaking on the sidelines of the International Petrochemical Conference.
The distaste for fracking for shale gas and oil on the continent is pushing Europe further behind other regions of the world in petrochemical production competitiveness, he said.
The CEO said his company did grow its European business by 7-8% last year.
