SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China's Hengli Petrochemical plans to keep the operating rate of its purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plants in Dalian at 70% capacity, a company source said on Tuesday.
The company has a total PTA capacity of 4.4m tonnes/year at the site.
There is no specific plan to raise the operating rate due to poor margins, the source added.
Hengli Petrochemical has restarted its 2.2m tonne/year No 1 PTA plant last weekend after shutting it for one week. The company’s total PTA output decreased by 20% during that week due to the shutdown, according to the source.
April’s PTA prices are expected to be bearish in China as downstream polyester producers are pressured by high inventories, said PTA market players.
