MELBOURNE (ICIS)--China’s Shanghai Huayi Group is capping the operating rate of its 200,000 tonne/year ethyl acetate (etac) plant at Wuwei in Anhui province at 60% capacity because of weak demand, a company official said on Thursday.
Shanghai Huayi has been running its etac plant at the reduced rate since restarting it on 14 March following a two-day outage.
In view of the weak demand from the downstream ink, paint and adhesives sector, the producer sees no need to increase its plant operating rate beyond 60% capacity in the near term, the official added.
In addition to the Wuwei facility, Shanghai Huayi Group operates a 200,000 tonne/year etac plant at Wujing in Shanghai under the company Shanghai Wujing Chemical.
