28 March 2013 15:41 [Source: ICIS news]LONDON (ICIS)--A 771,000 tonne/year methanol plant being developed by China-based company Sinopec in the country has come onstream, project engineer Davy Process Technology said on Thursday.
Located in the Changshou Chemical garden complex in Chongqing, China, it is the first Davy-produced facility to use acetylene off-gas as a feedstock to produce refined methanol.
Material produced will be used at acetic acid production facilities operated by Sinopec subsidiary Sinopec Sichuan Vinylon Works, Davy added.
