China's Markor Chem starts up new Xinjiang BDO unit

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China's Markor Chemical on 28 March started up its 100,000 tonne/year 1,4-butanediol (BDO) unit at Korla in Xinjiang, a company source said on Friday.

The company’s overall BDO capacity at the Korla site now stands at 160,000 tonnes/year following the start-up of the new unit.

The second phase BDO project, a joint venture between Sinopec Group and Markor Chemiical, was an investment of yuan (CNY) 3bn ($483m).
