SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec Gaoqiao Chemical shut one line at its 200,000 tonne/year acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) unit on 1 April in Shanghai, a company source said on Monday.

The company decided to shut one line because of high cost, the source added.

The unit has three lines with a total capacity of 200,000 tonnes/year, which will be operated at about 30% of capacity in April, and the loss will be about 4,500 tonnes, the source added.

The source did not specify a restart date for the line.

The will have little impact on the ABS market as the capacity is limited, a local distributer said.
