HOUSTON (ICIS)--US-headquartered PPG announced on Monday it has completed the acquisition of AkzoNobel’s North American architectural coatings business for $1.05bn (€819m).

The acquisition will further extend PPG’s architectural coatings business in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean, said company CEO Charles Bunch.

PPG’s portfolio now includes brands such as Glidden, Flood, CIL, Sico and Liquid Nails, Bunch added. The company will now license Dulux, Devoe architectural coatings and Sikkens architectural wood products.

Announced in December, the Netherlands-based AkzoNobel said the sale was promoted by the decision to concentrate the company’s decorative paints activities in Europe and high-growth regions.
