SINGAPORE (ICIS)--PetroChina has obtained the final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) in January to build a 200,000 bbl/day refinery at Anning in Yunnan province, a local governmental official said on Tuesday.

The yuan (CNY) 20bn project is expected to come on stream in the second half of 2014, according to the official from Anning Merchant Bureau.

It will be able to produce 2.7m tonnes/year of gasoline, 4.7m tonnes/year of diesel and 200,000 tonne/year of polypropylene (PP), among others, he added.

The source declined to comment on the status of a proposed naphtha cracker with a 1m tonne/year ethylene production capacity.
