LONDON (ICIS)--Sasol has sold its Sasol Gulf linear alkyl benzene sulphonate (LAS) subsidiary, along with a Dubai-based LAS plant, to Dubai's Anichem FZC, the South African energy and petrochemicals major said on Wednesday.

The sale is effective from 31 March, Sasol said, without disclosing financial details.

Sasol Gulf produces 15,000 tonnes/year of LAS at a plant in Dubai, with the product being sold into the regional market.

Anichem will maintain production at the plant and retain its workers. Anichem is apart of Dubai-based chemicals group Al Nahda International.

The divestment will allow Sasol’s olefins and surfactants business to strengthen its strategic focus, the company said.
