HOUSTON (ICIS)--WR Grace has acquired Australia’s construction chemicals firm Chemind Construction Products for an undisclosed sum, the US-based specialty chemicals and catalysts firm said on Wednesday.

The acquisition of Brisbane-based Chemind adds new waterproofing technology to Grace’s construction chemicals portfolio, and it provides Grace with its first waterproofing research and development (R&D) and manufacturing facility in Australia, it said.

Chemind formulates and manufactures specialty, high performance waterproof coatings that protect and improve commercial, residential, and civil buildings and structures.

It also distributes a range of waterproofing coatings and materials, including Grace’s waterproofing solutions, throughout Australia.

“Chemind’s products are highly complementary to Grace’s waterproofing product and technology portfolio,” said Adam Grose, vice president and general Manager, Asia, Grace Construction Products.

“This acquisition is consistent with our strategy to expand our waterproofing business globally,” Grose added.
