SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s PTT Asahi Chemical plans to shut down its 200,000 tonne/year acrylonitrile (ACN) plant in Map Ta Phut in mid-May for scheduled maintenance, a company source said on Friday.

The plant will be shut for around 30 days, the source said.

The company will build stocks before the maintenance in a bid to ensure supply for its customers during the shutdown period, according to the source.

The company’s 70,000 tonne/year methyl methacrylate (MMA) plant at the same site will also be taken off line during the same period, the source said.

PTT Asahi Chemical is a joint venture between Asahi Kasei Chemicals, PTT and Japanese trading firm Marubeni.
