SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Indonesia’s PT Petrowidada plans to shut its 70,000 tonne/year phthalic anhydride (PA) plant at East Java, Gresik, in mid-April for maintenance, a company source said on Friday.
The shutdown is expected to start on 11-12 April and last for one week, the source said.
The plant is operating at 60% capacity, reduced from 100% operations earlier in the month, as a result of tight feedstock orthoxylene (OX) supply, the source said.
The company has ensured that there will be sufficient PA for supply to domestic markets, the source said.
The company has not been in the export market recently because of reduced PA supply due to limited feedstock OX availability, hence overseas markets will not be affected by the shutdown.
