SINGAPORE (ICIS)--LANXESS has acquired Singapore-based PCTS Specialty Chemicals for an undisclosed amount, the German specialty chemicals firm said on Friday.

PCTS specialises in biocides for environmentally friendly water-based paints.

Biocides prevent the deterioration and discolouring of paints caused by microorganisms, LANXESS said in a statement.

The firm will be integrated with LANXESS’ material protection products unit, which is part of its performance chemicals segment.

The PCTS facility in Singapore will also become the new Asia-Pacific headquarters of the material protection products unit.
