HOUSTON (ICIS)--A dockworker strike in Chile that began about 19 days ago on demands about mealtime at the port of Angamos in the north of the country has now extended to all of the country’s ports, local participants in the polyvinyl chloride (PVC) industry said on Friday.
The strike is affecting all imports and exports, including perishables.
The strikers have rejected all offers from ports’ management.
The Chilean government advised that the port workers’ strike is placing hundreds of thousands of jobs at risk, as well as future investments in the import and export sectors.
