US Feb EPS exports fell by 5.9% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US exports of expandable polystyrene (EPS) for February were down by 5.9% from the same month in 2012, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Monday.

US EPS exports fell to 5,573 tonnes in February 2013 from 5,928 tonnes in 2012.

Mexico, Canada and Hong Kong were the top destinations for US exports, with Mexico and Canada taking less and Hong Kong taking slightly more material in February 2013 compared with the same month of 2012.

US EPS imports fell by 30% in February to 11,241 tonnes, down from 16,014 tonnes in 2012.

The Bahamas, Canada and Mexico were the top importers into the US.

Major North American EPS producers are BASF, Nova Chemicals, Flint Hills Resources, Styrochem and Nexkemia.
