HOUSTON (ICIS)--US polyvinyl chloride (PVC) exports in February rose 22% over the same month a year earlier, according to US International Trade Commission (ITC) data released on Monday.
US producers shipped 254,046 tonnes of PVC in February, compared with 207,464 tonnes shipped in February 2012. February’s figure, however, was 17% less than the 304,295 tonnes shipped in January.
Canada, China and Russia were the top destination for US PVC in Febuary, with Canada and China buying approximately the same amount as they had in the same month in 2012, while Russia buying more than twice as much.
Meanwhile, PVC imports in February were 22,388 tonnes, a 15% increase from the 19,555 tonnes received in the same month of 2012.
Canada was by far the top destination for US PVC into the US in February, at 16,893 tonnes. It was followed by Germany (1,299 tonnes) and Colombia (1,103 tonnes).
Major US PVC producers include Axiall, Westlake, Occidental Chemical, Formosa, and Shintech.
