HOUSTON (ICIS)--US vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) exports in February rose almost 13% over the same month last year because of increased shipments to Italy and Chile, according to data released on Monday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
US VAM exports in February totalled 40,796 tonnes, compared with 36,252 tonnes in the same month of 2012.
The top five destinations included Belgium, Mexico, Italy, Brazil and Canada, which increased their take in February by 22% over imports received in February 2012. The five countries accounted for about 60% of all exports.
Chile ranked seventh as a VAM destination, taking 1,568 tonnes in February compared with 435 tonnes in the same month last year.
Major US VAM sellers include Celanese, Dow Chemical, DuPont and LyondellBasell.
