HOUSTON (ICIS)--US butyl acetate (butac) exports in February showed a slight rise year on year, with increases to top destinations offset by a decline in shipments to smaller countries, according to data released on Monday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
US butac exports totalled 4,434 tonnes in February, up about 1% from 4,372 tonnes in the same month of 2012.
The two largest export destinations - Turkey and Brazil - received a combined 2,536 tonnes, compared to only 549 tonnes between them in the same month last year.
But countries that did not rank among the top 10 destinations received virtually no butac shipments in February (7 tonnes), compared with 1,770 tonnes in February 2012.
Major US butac producers include Dow Chemical, Eastman Chemical and Oxea Group.
