HOUSTON (ICIS)—US urea imports in February 2013 were up 44% from the same month a year earlier, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Monday.
Urea imports rose to 640,239 tonnes in February from 487,040 tonnes in February 2012. Imports rose in February mainly because of increased product from Oman.
February imports were reduced from 896,004 tonnes in January 2013.
Oman at 140,080 tonnes was the major source of US urea imports, followed by Canada at 110,345 tonnes and Kuwait at 86,824 tonnes.
Other sources included Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela.
