China March PE, PP imports rise 53% month on month – traders

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China is estimated to have imported 1.14m tonnes of combined polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) in March, up by 53.3% from the previous month, local traders said on Tuesday.

Some 749,000 tonnes of PE and 390,000 tonnes of PP were brought into the country last month, they said.

Compared with February numbers, March 2013 PE imports jumped by 69.42%, while PP imports were up by 29.65%, traders said.

Official data on China's March imports will be released around 24 April.
