HOUSTON (ICIS)--Chevron Phillips Chemical reported the shutdown of an ethylene unit at its Sweeny cracker in Texas on 7 April, according to a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) on Tuesday.
The filing said that the propylene compressor serving ethylene unit 22 initiated an automatic shutdown, and that attempts by operations personnel to restart the compressor were unsuccessful.
The company had previously reported a shutdown at the Sweeny complex on 30 March, also because of issues with a propylene compressor.
The company has 295,000 tonnes/year of ethylene capacity at the cracker.
A company spokesperson declined to comment, citing company policy.
